William M. Liggett

May 20, 1940 to May 20, 2003

William M. Liggett, age 62, of Monticello, formerly of Olin, died Tuesday May 20, 2003 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Iowa City, Iowa following an extended illness. There will be no Services, Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to Angela Provencher, 842 Southhaven Dr., Monticello, Iowa 52310. Surviving is a daughter, Angela (Ron) Provencher, Monticello, 2 sons, Thomas Liggett, Marshfield, Missouri, William Liggett III, Holopaw, Florida, 4 grandchildren, JoLee Tomiello, Kyle Downing, T.J. and Alex Liggett, 3 brothers, Jerry Liggett, Dayton, Nevada, John Liggett, Meridian, Idaho, Jack Liggett, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a sister, Linda Graham, Mountain Home, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his Parents, and a sister, Lona Love. William M. Liggett Jr. was born, May 20, 1940 at Valley Center, Kansas. He was the son of William and Otheal Love, Liggett. He received his education in Olin, Iowa Schools. William served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He married Jo Foster in February of 1964 at Brainerd, Minnesota. The couple lived in Monticello for 2 year and then in Cedar Rapids for 17 years where William worked for Midwest Food Distributors. The couple divorced in 1984 and in 1985 William moved to Key West and Big Coppitt Key, Florida where he worked in heavy construction rebuilding coastlines. He retired in 1995. William then worked as a sponge diver and a fisherman. His health caused him to return to Iowa on May 15, 2003. William was loved greatly by his family.
