Life Legacy

Donald Johnson age 59, of Monticello, died Saturday morning, August 21, 2004 at his home following an extended illness.Funeral services will be held 10:30 Tuesday morning, August 24, 2004 at the S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, rural Monticello with interment in the Prairie Hill Cemetery. Rev. Eugene Schipper will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 until 8 Monday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Thoughts, memories or condolences may be left at is his wife, Mae Louise, 2 sons, Brad (Angela) Johnson, Rosemount, Minnesota, Brian (Sandra) Johnson, Cedar Rapids, his mother, Ruth Johnson, Anamosa, 2 grandchildren, Chloe and Emily, a brother, Russ Johnson, Monticello, and 2 sisters, Marlene (Jerry) Nagel, and Laurie Johnson both of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert, his Grandparents, a niece and several aunts and uncles. Donald Eugene Johnson was born May 9, 1945 in John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of Albert and Ruth Dirks, Johnson. Don attended the Monticello Community Schools where he graduated in 1963. He then started farming in Castle Grove Township, near Monticello. Donald E. Johnson and Mae Louise Falkers were married June 18, 1966 at Bennett, Iowa. Don continued to farm and also worked construction, Ag related businesss and factory work off the farm. He also served 6 years in the National Guard. Don was a lifelong member of S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church and currently serving as a Deacon. He served in many positions on the church council and committees. Don led the Adult Bible Study, was a retreat leader, a lay minister, and taught Sunday School. He also was a member of the Monticello Mens Choir for 14 years. He loved music and dancing. Don was a loving husband, father and Grandfather.
