Life Legacy


Robert Walton, 82, of Anamosa died, Monday, March 13, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Thursday, March 16, 2006 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Anamosa. The Rev. Bryan Crousore will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. Interment will be at Wilcox Cemetery, Viola. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.goettschonline.com Survivors include his wife Wilma; one son, Kenneth (Peggy) Walton of Viola; one daughter, Kathy Petersen of Manchester; five grandchildren, Michelle (John) Phillips, Yvonne (Brian) Curran, Korey (Chris) Petersen, Kendy (Dean) Petersen-Hogan, Todd (Shawna) Walton; nine great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Brittany, Cariann, Courtni, Daniel, Kathryn, Colton, Madelyn, Braden; one sister, Gwendolyn Kuntz of Monticello; sister-in-laws, Betty Lubben of Onslow, Eva Kray of Anamosa and several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; In-laws Tisae and Gladys Baker; three brothers, Jim, Larry and Howard and a sister, Maxine Wells. Robert was born August 14, 1923 in Anamosa. He was the son of Albert and Ruth Chisman, Walton. Bob attended the rural schools in Fairview Township. As a young lad he delivered milk for the Walton Dairy. On November 16th, 1940 he married Wilma Baker at Milan, Missouri. Bob worked at Iowa Manufacturing, tended a Holstein herd and grain farmed. He sold the farm in 1971. After some health problems he retired in 1970-1971 at which time he built their present house. He built his sons home, another friends home and several other houses in the area. He belonged the UCC Church, Benevolent Society and the Fairview Community Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe given to the UCC Church in Anamosa, Benevolent Society and Above & Beyond in Monticello. Bob was very generous in helping others and was a fun loving person.
