Sierra Burnell, age 16 of Monticello, died Tuesday evening July 22, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Apostolic Assembly of Anamosa. The Rev. Clayton George will officiate at the service. Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery, in Anamosa. Friends may call starting at 11:00 am Saturday at the church. Thoughts, memories and Condolences may be left at www.goettschonline.com. Survivors include her parents Tina Burnell of Monticello, and William Owen; a brother Nicholas Burnell, sister Adrianna Broadwater, and Marlana, and twin brothers Camron and Corey Harrison, all of Cedar Rapids; grandparents, Diana (Larry) Forbes of Monticello, Kenneth (Dona) Burnell of Vinton, Beatrice Butts, and William Owens Sr. both of New York; a great-grandmother Ruth Burnell of Cedar Rapids; 5 Aunts, Tammy Waddell, Valerie Thomas, Dona Jones, Sandra Daniel, Amy Gooding, and 1 uncle, Kenneth Burnell Jr., best friends; Damia, Gabby, Sable, and Toni, and many cousins, great aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her great grandfather Donald Burnell.
Sierra Burnell was born September 27, 1991 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is the daughter of Tina Burnell and William Owens. She had received her CNA license and had worked at the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center, for a period of time. She was currently working at Wendys in Cedar Rapids. Sierra was a social butterfly who was known for her laugh and smile, that would lighten up any room. She loved her family and friends very much, and will be missed dearly by all who loved her.
