Steven Douglas Meyer was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on December 4th 1947 to Mabel and John Meyer and was the fourth of five children. Steve was raised as an Iowa farm boy until he joined the Navy on the 15th of February 1967. He spent four years serving our country in the Navy culminating in two six month rotations in Antarctica. Steve was stationed in New Zealand during his tour and this is where he met his future wife Patricia. They soon fell in love and a year later on a trip to visit Steve in Iowa they became engaged and were married in Anamosa on the 15th of January 1972, in -25 degree weather. They began their life together as Steve attended the University of Iowa receiving both his Bachelors and Masters in Accounting in only four short years graduating with honors and distinction. They lived in Cedar Rapids and St Louis before finally settling down in San Antonio. Steve became a father to Douglas Wallace Meyer on December 1st, 1982, receiving what he called an early birthday present. He spent the rest of his days in San Antonio highlighted by flights to West Point to see his son play football and weekly trips to the Golf Course. He was a man whom laughter followed and was as kind as he was generous. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him but will always be close to those he loved. Steve was treasured as a husband, father, brother and a friend to all he met.
