Arlene Bader, 90, of Cedar Rapids, lowa (formerly of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Marion, lowa), loving mother and grandmother, passed away January 2, 2022. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date with interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello, lowa. Goettsch Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Arlene was born on May 28, 1931, in Langworthy, lowa, to Clifford and Mildred (Taylor) Arduser. She was baptized and confirmed in her faith in the church of her Swiss ancestors which was then called the German Evangelical & Reformed Church in Monticello, lowa (now Peace United). She began her education at Wayne #2, a one-room country school, and graduated from Monticello High School in 1949 and Paris Beauty Academy.

On July 15, 1950, Arlene was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jim Bader, and they celebrated 68 years as husband and wife. They found great pleasure attending the Indianapolis 500 (for over thirty years), other Nascar races, and flying in their plane lovingly named "Yellow Bird."

Arlene also enjoyed playing cards, music, reading and time spent with family and friends. Even near the end she relished playing Scrabble with Jan. Her favorite books were the Holy Bible and the Dictionary.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jan (Dean) Solem of Marion, lowa; son, Jay Bader, a/k/a J. Remington Wilde, of Florida (a songwriter formerly of Nashville, Tennessee); two granddaughters: Shannon (Brian) Walshire and Kristy (Shane) Birkey; four great-grandchildren, Wyatt Swartzendruber, Allison Birkey, Madelyn Walshire and Ella Walshire; and her brother, Robert Arduser, of Monticello, lowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jim, in 2019.

Arlene will be remembered for her kindness, her great sense of humor and her generosity. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.
