Barbara Jean Lowry, 82, of Marion, died Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church, Monticello with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 7 on Wednesday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Pastor Kristy Parker will officiate at the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson Foundation.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Andy) Day, her son, Gerald (Lori) Lowry, 3 granddaughters, Addi Day, Brook (Justin) McDonald and Brittney (Chad) Crabtree, 2 great-grandchildren, Zoey and Elliott McDonald, her a sister Jan Stout, and sister-in-law, Loraine Lowry. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John and a brother, Gordon Eberhart, a nephew Gordon II, and brothers-in-law, Lloyd Lowry and Lyle Stout.
Barbara Jean Eberhart was born October 30, 1940, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of Clarence and Lillian Wetzel, Eberhart. Barbara graduated from the Monticello Community Schools in 1959 and continued her education at Iowa State University. Barbara married John Lowry on June 15, 1962, at the First Presbyterian Church, Monticello. The couple resided in Anamosa for 2 years before moving to Marion, Iowa. Barb was employed at Rockwell Collins for 25 years in the H.R. Department. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and yard work. In her teens, she was a member of the Castle Grove Fortune Finders 4H Club. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and an all-around caring person who will be missed.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Mercy, Iowa City, and the staff at the Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon for all their kind and gentle care of Barb.
