Obituary

Belva Covington,83, died Monday July 24, 2023 at her home following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held, 10:30 Friday morning at the Springs of Life Church, Anamosa with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello.  Friends may call from 4 until 7 Thursday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.  Pastor Mark Ortgies will officiate at the services. Surviving, are her 2 children, Brian (Angela) Meyer, Kristl (Rob) Hunt, 5 grandchildren, Sam Hunt, Emily (Mason) Smith, Jace Meyer, Jonathan (Sarah) Bagby, David Bagby, 4 great-grandchildren, Graham and Finley Hunt, Sonja Smith and Isabell Bagby and one brother, Eldon (Silvia Rickels) Covington.  She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Galen and Lawrence Covington, Margaret Zirtzman, Wilma Pospisil, Hilda Steiner and Freda DeLarm.

Belva Darlene Covington was born January 21, 1940, near Langworthy, Iowa.  She was the daughter of Julian Lester and Bessie Moyer, Covington.  She received her early education in the Langworthy Schools and graduated from the Monticello Community Schools in 1958.  Belva married William Meyer in October of 1958.  She started working at Collins Radio around the same time and continued working at Rockwell Collins until she retired in March of 1995.  Belva married David Seeley in June of 1970 and helped him run the Anamosa Bowling Alley.  In later years she helped Brian with both the Anamosa and Monticello Bowling Alleys.

Belva was always busy helping her children, watching grandchildren, gardening flowers and vegetables, mowing the lawn, scrapbooking, quilting, going to her grandchildren's events.   She will be deeply missed by her family.

Belva's family would like to thank all the neighbors and special friends who helped her in so many ways, Rob and Teri Clemmons, Doreen Tabor, Robin Schrader and Marcia Monk  and also every one at Above and Beyond Hospice and the Hall Perrine Center.
