Jeanne Hartwig, 98, died Friday evening January 12, 2024, at her home following and extended illness.

Betty Jeanne Mitchell was born July 10, 1925, to Alvin and Nina Maude Rathbun, Mitchell, the youngest of 3 children.   She graduated from the Martelle High School with the class of 1944. After high school she went to business school in Cedar Rapids. She then went to work at Bankers Life as an assistant cashier.

Jeanne married Richard Otto Hartwig on March 8, 1951, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa.   The couple farmed east of Anamosa for 50 plus years.

Surviving are her children, Larry, Jerry (Anita), Scott, Cinda (Kenneth) Petrick, and Rusty Hartwig, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 4 nephews and 2 nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard in 2000, her sisters, Lorice (Virgil) Johnson, Gayle (Earl) Antes, and a grandson-in-law, Dallas Kirby.

Private family services will be held Monday January 22, 2024 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa with interment in the Antioch Cemetery, Anamosa.  Pastor Carla Burge will officiate at the services.  Thoughts, memories, and condolences may be left at www.Goettschonline.com.
