Charolette Rose Jaeger was born on August 13th, 1943, in rural Jones County, the daughter of Elmer and Lodema (Wells) Jaeger. She was a member of the Monticello High School Class of 1962. She married Richard Lutz on November 10th, 1962, in Cedar Rapids. They spent almost 60 years together before his passing in 2021. The couple resided in Iowa for a short time before relocating to the West Coast, including Oregon. They raised their family in California where they lived for 30 years before moving back to northeast Iowa in 1992.
She enjoyed shopping, camping, listening to music and spending time with her family. Charolette was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Since family dinner time was very important to her, she always made sure there was always a meal on the table. She was a gifted seamstress. She will be remembered as a deeply religious and spiritual person who volunteered her time and talents freely.
She is survived by her children Susan Lutz-Recek, Cedar Rapids, Jeff Lutz, Oelwein, Michele (Jason) Santouosso, Topsfield, MA, and Misty (Shaun)Taylor, Marion, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, her siblings John (Sue), Monticello, and Daniel, Marion, a brother-in-law Gary DeVries, and a sister-in-law Marilyn Jaeger.
Charolette was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her parents, sisters Phyllis Jaeger, Sylvia Jaeger, Janice DeVries, and Elmeree (Kenneth) Sproston, and a brother David Jaeger.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice of Mercy for the loving compassionate care Charolette received.
