Cheryl Jean Lloyd-Ryan was born December 18, 1959 in Anamosa, Iowa to the parents of Edward Glen Lloyd and Marilyn (Palmer) Lloyd. She grew up on the family farm south of Prairieburg. She attended Central City Community Schools and graduated Class of 1978. After graduation she worked at Polo Plastics in Monticello. She later worked at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids. Before attending Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids Cheryl helped and supported many older friends and family as a home health aide. She graduated from Mount Mercy College with a degree in Social Work. She worked with the Abbey Center in Cedar Rapids helping immigrant families and later worked as a support person and aide in two group homes in Manchester, Iowa.
Cheryl was a member of Saint Stephen’s Catholic Church in Central City where she met her husband Doug Ryan. They married on September 6, 2003
Cheryl loved traveling with Doug and frequenting Door County and the Southwest. She loved helping with family events and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She was a loving grandmother to her step grandson, Tyler Davis of Manchester.
Cheryl loved helping people and sharing her love of beautifully decorated cakes, fresh roses, and her faith. She will be remembered as a hard working and generous spirit to those around her. She was a small town farm girl with a huge heart. She had many fond memories of watching and playing softball at the Prairieburg ball diamond. She loved attending dances at the Prairiemoon Ballroom and eating late night pizza at Leroy’s in Anamosa. She truly spent her life and generous spirit taking care of others through her job as a social worker, a daughter, sister, grandmother to Tyler, and wonderful Aunt. Cheryl passed peacefully at the Anamosa Care Center in Anamosa from complications with Parkinson’s.
Surviving is her brother, Ken (Sandy) Lloyd of Marion, her sister, Karen Lloyd of Guttenberg, step grandson, Tyler Davis of Manchester, three nephews, Sean (Shelly) Sperfslage, East Dubuque, Scot (Holly) Sperfslage, Iowa City, one niece, Kristina (Eric) Walton, Marion, great nephews. Andrew & Abel Sperfslage, Logan & Kaden Walton, two great nieces, Cecilia Sperfslage and Raeya Walton. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Doug Ryan, Central City, sister, Denise Lloyd Lawrence, Dubuque, brother in-law, Claret Lawrence, Anamosa, nephew, John Lloyd Lawrence, Saint Paul Seminary, MN, father, Edward Glen Lloyd, Monticello, mother, Marilyn Palmer Lloyd, Guttenberg.
She will be missed by all of those who knew her and loved her. Rest in peace our beautiful blue eyed angel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 Saturday, August 29, 2026, as St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairieburg with interment in the St. Jospeh Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:00 Saturday at the church. Fr. Anthony Kruse will officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello has taken Cheryl and her family into their care.
