Clovis Wiseman Young, 94, died peacefully Friday morning, June 30, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. Clovis was born October 14, 1928 in Northview, Missouri to Frank and Verda (Hill) Young and attended Crown School near Marshfield, Missouri. Clovis married Geneva Stroud on May 22, 1952 at Harrison, Arkansas and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. During his service to his country, he earned the Bronze Star for heroic achievement in ground combat and numerous other medals and citations. After the war the couple moved to Monticello, Iowa in 1956. Clovis was employed with Shomont Farms and retired from Henderson Manufacturing in August of 2006 after 27 years of employment.

Clovis was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva, parents and four siblings. He's survived by his children Dwight (Laurie) Young of Monticello, Victoria (Todd) Chappelle of Monticello, Keith (Donna) Young of West Branch, and Timothy (Marcella) Young of Hooker, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and three siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, at the Apostolic Assembly of Anamosa with Rev. Clayton George officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello, with military honors. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Apostolic Assembly.
