Daisy Heady, 91, of Anamosa, died Monday, July 17, 2023 at the Gardens of Cedar Rapids, following a long period of declining health.

Daisy Marie Rundle was born on November 17, 1931, at her family's home outside Monticello, IA, the daughter of Harrison and Dorothy (Costley) Rundle, Sr. She attended the Hardscrabble Country School and graduated from Monticello High School in the Class of 1949. That year, she attended the Sturgis Falls Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, at which she was voted the Rally's very first Queen. She married Edward Heady of Anamosa in 1964. He died in 1992.
Daisy worked at the Reliant Shirt Factory, Anamosa, Wilson's Food's, Cedar Rapids, and owned and cooked the Truck Stop in Monticello and the Martelle Café. In 1955 she began her career at Collins Radio and retired from Rockwell Collins in 1987, after 32 years of service. She enjoyed nature and loved to garden. On two occasions she was awarded "Yard of the Week" by the Wapsianna Garden Club. An avid flower gardener, she was considered an "unofficial" master gardener. Daisy was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies. She was happiest when she had a child in her arms, no more so than her great grandson Tyler, to whom she gave wonderful care. She was a wonderful cook and a loving wife, mother, and grandma. who was devoted to her entire family, including her faithful companion Tuffy.
She is remembered by her sons Eric (Brenda) Brokens, Monticello, Kevin (Fran) Brokens, Manchester, Terry (Denise) Heady and Everett (Kim) Heady, both of Anamosa, grandchildren Heather, Katie, Wes, Mallory, Kaleb, and Seth, great grandchildren Samantha, Breanna, Daisy, and Waylon, her siblings Dick Rundle, Alma Brewer, Dorothy Boland, and Harriet Pillard, as well as by nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Edward, she was preceded in death by parents, her siblings Harrison Rundle, Jr., Bob Rundle, Jennie Dirks, and Carol Covington, her great grandson Tyler Heady, and her faithful companion Tuffy.
Daisy was a beautiful lady, inside and out. Her big heart and gracious smile will be missed by all who knew her.
