Dale Eugene Neunaber, 95, of Anamosa, died Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the Anamosa Care Center.
Life Celebration services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello. Rev. Wade Reddy will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the Anamosa Veterans Honor Guard. Dale was born November 26, 1927, in rural Olin, IA, the son of Johann and Gesine (Hults) Neunaber, He attended school in Olin and graduated from Olin High School in the Class of 1945. He entered the United States Army in March 1946 and proudly served his country during the Second World War. On December 9, 1950, he married Leona Tapken in Cedar Rapids. They made their home in Anamosa and were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church, and later became members of Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. He was employed as a machinist at Kwik Way Engineering. He retired in 1989.
Dale was proud of his military service and was a member of AMVETS and the American Legion, as well as the Cedar Valley Carving Club due to his fondness of wood carving. He also enjoyed gardening and building hot air engines from scratch.
He is remembered by his three sons Michael and James, both of Anamosa, and Dan (Laurie), Appleton, WI, grandchildren James (Barbara Richardson) Neunaber, Chicago, and Lindsey (Zach) Klingbile, Appleton and by his great grandchildren Lilyanna Wamhoff, Brooks Klingbile, and Hazel Klingbile, all of Appleton.
He was preceded by his wife of 45 years Leona in 1996, his parents, and his siblings Lawrence, Paul, and Irene.
