Dale Walker, 85, of Anamosa, died Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the Anamosa Care Center.

His Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 10 AM at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. Pastors Jim & Kris May will officiate. Burial will in Norwich Cemetery, rural Martelle. A luncheon will be held at a later date. Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at the funeral home. Dale LeRoy Walker was born September 2, 1937 in Anamosa, the son of Roy and Bessie (Newhart) Walker. He attended Anamosa Schools and was a member of the Anamosa High School Class of 1955. On November 5, 1965 he married Judy Warthen at the Anamosa United Methodist Church. He was employed as a machinist at Iowa Manufacturing, which later became Terex, in Cedar Rapids, He retired in September of 1999 after 35 years of service.

Dale was a lifetime resident of the Fairview – Anamosa area. He was a member of the Broken Bit Saddle Club and the Iowa High School Rodeo Association, to which he always volunteered many hours, helping in any way needed. He loved to spend time with his friends and especially his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy, his children Randy (Cindy) Warthen, Covington, GA, Sherry (Mel) Wadsworth, Anamosa, and Kristy (Lance) Shelton, Spring Grove, IL, his grandchildren Chisolm, Cassie, and Remington Warthen, Beau (Nicki) Ludley, Kristie (Dylan) Dircks, Chance (Kayla), Tegan, and Byrce Shelton, a great granddaughter Finley Dircks, brothers-in-law and sisters-in law Dewayne (Pam) Warthen, Jean (Slim) Schlemmer, Allan Warthen, Janet (Dick) Lynott, Janice (Bob) Richmond, and Jerrie Osterkamp, as well as by several nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Ronald and Ernie, and sisters-in-law Joy Merfeld, Joyce Warthen, and Joann Warthen.
