Daniel Robert Dietiker, 77, of Anamosa, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Dan was born on August 18, 1948, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Jacob and Ruth (Topping) Dietiker. He grew up in Jones County and graduated from Anamosa High School in 1966. On July 23, 1966, he married the love of his life, Julianne Werderman. Together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage and built a life centered on family, hard work, and cherished traditions. Their union was blessed with four children, who brought Dan immense pride and joy throughout his life.

Dan worked building silos after graduating from high school, then he and Julie began farming in 1968 in the Cass Center area until 1982. While farming, Dan also worked at Nash Finch in Cedar Rapids. After selling the farm, he went to work for the Jones County Road Department. In the mid 80’s, he started Dan Dietiker Construction, which he ran until his retirement. They moved to their home on Fremont Road in 1982, where they spent the next 44 years creating wonderful memories.

Dan was well known for his love of the outdoors and many friends and family. Whether fishing, hunting, or simply gathering with family and friends at their farm near Waubeek, he found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. Devils Lake and Green Bay held a special place in his heart and served as the backdrop for many unforgettable fishing adventures and spirited stories about his beloved Green Bay Packers.

Family was the center of Dan’s world. He was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren and found joy in watching their lives unfold. In recent years, however, his great-grandchildren captured his heart in a way only they could, bringing him endless smiles and laughter. He treasured every moment with them.

Those who knew Dan will remember him for the straight shooter he was, and his dedication and love for his family. One of his favorite expressions, often shared with family and friends, reflected his outlook: “You know what I love about this ole world? Everything!” Those words will remain a lasting reminder of how he embraced life to the end.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Julianne, of Anamosa; his four children, Daniel (Connie) Dietiker, Jr. of Monticello, Timothy (Rochelle) Dietiker of Anamosa, Renee Dietiker of Providence Village, Texas, and Angie Carter of Pingree Grove, Illinois; ten grandchildren, Zachary (Ashtyn) Dietiker, Cassie (Cody) Dirks, Mackenzie (Trevor) Hulett, Nathan (Sarah) Dietiker, Logan Wolfe, Kala Dietiker, Kole Dietiker, Shanice Cheatham, Sydney Carter, and Madison Carter; and eight cherished great-grandchildren, Brayden, Colton, Camden, Coleson, Luella, Nora, Blaire, and Parker. He is also survived by his siblings, Jack (Teresa) Dietiker of Anamosa, William (Judy) Dietiker of Anamosa, Nanci Paulsen of Monticello, and Brenda Dietiker of Decorah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Glen “Chestie” and Helen Werderman; brothers-in-law, Dave Paulsen, Scott Werderman, Tim Tylee, Paul Cook; and a sister-in-law, Lesa Stimpson.

A Celebration of Dan’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Anamosa. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Though his presence will be deeply missed, Dan leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, hard work, and gratitude. His family finds comfort knowing that the stories he told, the traditions he created, and the love he shared will live on for generations to come.
