Obituary

Darbie Elizabeth (Theilen) First, 52, of Anamosa, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 19, 2025, at her home.

A celebration of her life will be held from 1 to 4 pm Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Anamosa Bowling Center, 117 N. Ford Street. Burial will be in Forest Chapel Cemetery, rural Anamosa, on a later date. Please use the Guestbook to share your thoughts, memories, and condolences with Darbie's family.

Darbie was born on September 6, 1972, in Anamosa. She attended Anamosa Community Schools and later attended Kirkwood Community College. She had been employed as the dietary manager at the Anamosa Care Center, had previously worked as the kitchen manager for the Wapsi Country Club, and had also worked at the bowling center.

In 1996 she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, which slowed her active life down. However, she still enjoyed having a good time, baking and cooking, reading and crocheting. Above all these things she loved to spend time with friends, family, and her feline babies.

Darbie is remembered by her children Caleb (Jamie) Payton, Cole Payton, Cade (Chrishena) Payton, Braeden (Chloe) Payton, and Olivia Coyle, six grandchildren, a grandchild on the way, her parents Larry and Glenda (Gorius) Theilen, siblings Bridget (Travis) Tuetken, Micah (Brian) Cunningham, and Todd (Jessica) Seeley, as well as by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her biological father Clarke Seeley and her grandparents.

Darbie's family would like to thank the staff of Anamosa Area Ambulance, Michael Weston, M.D., Kirk Kilburg, M.D., and Officer Gabe Humphrey of the Anamosa Police Department for the care and assistance during this difficult time.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
