Obituary

Darrell Reyner, 69 died suddenly, Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at his home.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday August 30, 2025 at the Monticello Eagles Club from 12 until 5, with a prayer service from 12-12:30. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello has taken Darrell and his family into their care.
Surviving is his wife Lori, sons Casey, Cody, Cory (Nicole) and Carter, 2 grandchildren Lincoln and Emersyn. He is also survived by his siblings, Dan (Kathy) Danica (Russ) Hughes, Deb Scanlon, David (Connie).  He was preceded in death by his parents, and in-laws, Francis and Lois Boeding, Dave Boeding, Dick and Joyce Milroy, Gerald Blanchard, Terry Chapman, Tammy Blanchard, Evan Michael Reyner, and Jack Scanlon.
Darrell Alan Reyner was born August 17, 1956 the fifth child of five to Samuel and Ruth Hoffman, Reyner.  He graduated with the class of 1975 from the Monticello Community Schools and played in the Shriners football classic.  Darrell went to Iowa Lakes Community College and graduated with an Auto Body Certificate in 1976. He started working for Stephen Motors for 2 years, Mueller Pipeline for 5 years then went to work with his brother Dave at Reyner Paint and Drywall in 1981.  Darrell married Lori Boeding August 21, 1980. From 1982 until 1988 he worked at the Iowa Mens Reformatory. In 1988 he started Darrells Pizza and Steakhouse on 1st street before relocating to the Truck Stop on Main Street.  He also owns Scooters in Anamosa and had operated Poke's Pawn Shop in Monticello.
Darrell was a charter member of the Monticello Eagles Club and their first President. He met his wife of 45 years while coaching women's softball and had been a Sunday School Teacher for the Confirmation Class. For 30 years Darrell's catering fed the entertainment at the Great Jones County Fair. As a DJ in the Original Rock 'n Roll Show he and Robbie Kremer entertained countless audiences. He always greeted with a honk and smile, and parted with a "Love Ya".
