Obituary

David Countryman age 86 died Sunday, June 5, 2022 at the St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness.

A celebration of David's life will be held on Saturday, June 25th from 1:00 until 4:00 at the Anamosa American Legion Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello at a later date.   Goettsch Funeral Home has taken David and his family into their care. By visiting Goettschonline.com you may share your thoughts, memories and condolences with David's family and sign the online guest book.

He is survived by his 7 children,  Peggy (Brad) Payne, Phyllis Camp, and Darrin Countryman D.J. (Markie) Camp all of Monticello, Patty (Mike) Griffin, Two Rivers, AK, Dennis (Kay) Countryman, Anamosa, , 12 Grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, his  siblings Dorothy , John  and Roger.

He was preceded in death by his parents  his wife Hazel in 2021,  his son David Countryman and siblings, LeRoy, Louise, Floyd, Jacob, Jerry and Rossetta.

David Alfred Countryman was born October 2, 1935 in Dallas County, Iowa.  He was the son of John H. and Alice Rausch, Countryman.   David was employed by Younkers and Meadow Gold Dairy in Des Moines.  He later worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids , Sacred Heart School and Church in Monticello.  In retirement he worked at Walmart, Fareway and Casey's.  David married Hazel Denniston on July 21, 1984 in West Des Moines.
