David Wilson, 84, died Friday evening at his home surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00, Thursday morning, May 1, 2025, at St. Luke Catholic Church, Hopkinton with interment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monticello. Father Paul Baldwin will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 until 7 Wednesday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello where a Parish Vigil Service will be held at 4:00. Surviving are his 3 children, Chris (Paul) Hartman, Carmen (Gene) Kracke, Craig (Jana) Wilson, 11 grandchildren Amy (Nick) Covington Wes (Kelly) Wilson, Matthew (Jody) Hartman, Emily (Luke) Miller, Andrew (Jayme Meers) Kracke, Leon Wilson, Alex Kracke, Jake (Hilary Bickel) Wilson, Alyssa Kracke, Audrey Kracke, Whitney Wilson, 13 great-grandchildren, his siblings, Karen (David) Hiler, Pam Buol, Deborah Frimml and Donna (Mike) Theisen and his in-laws, Donna Bardon, Greg and Gail Featherston, Rob and Laura Hoerner, Jane Featherston and Barb Featherston. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and daughters, Colleen and Carla.
David Jon Wilson was born June 14, 1940, at Sand Springs, Iowa, the son of Leon and Veronica Kirby Wilson. David attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Monticello. David and Mary Alice Featherston were married July 18, 1959, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Cascade. The couple lived for a brief time in Monticello and later moved to Hopkinton in 1966. David worked briefly for an asphalt paving company. He spent 42 years working at Energy Manufacturing, retiring in 2002.
David enjoyed stock car races, all sporting events at Maquoketa Valley School, the Cubs and Hawkeye wrestling. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
