Donna Custis, 77, died on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at U of I Hospital, Iowa City, following a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Tuesday morning, November 12, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa, with interment in the Norwich Cemetery. Pastor Rodney Bluml will officiate at the services. Visitation will be held Monday evening, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa from 4 until 7. Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa has taken Donna and her family into their care. Surviving is her husband Jon, 2 daughters, Dawn (Bret) McLaughlin, Anamosa, Daphne Custis-Davis, Newton, 4 grandchildren, Kamry (Ben) Carpenter, Chase (Madie Jensen) McLaughlin, Bailey (Jeremy Wagner) Davis, Abby (Jason Craver) Davis, 1 great grandchild, Harlan Carpenter, her siblings, Terry (Evelyn) French, Gary French, Norma (LeRoy) Nielsen. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Steven.
Donna Mae French was born August 12, 1947, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Norman and Elda Mae Oltmanns French. She graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools in 1965. She married Jon Custis on March 16, 1968, at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Donna worked at Collins Radio, Doerr Electric, and West Side Transport. For 20 years Donna worked at Walmart in Anamosa. She retired from Wal-Mart as a Pharmacy Tech, a career she truly loved.
Donna was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was an avid participant at Rhythm of Life, JRMC. In her final weeks, she was blessed to spend extra time with her loved ones, including the joy of welcoming her great-grandson, Harlan, into the world.
Donna will be missed for her loving spirit and the impact she made in the lives of those around her. The memories of her generosity and warmth will undoubtedly continue to inspire and comfort those who knew her.
