Duwayne
Schneiderman
d. Jun 14, 2025
DuWayne graduated into Heaven's gates early morning, June 14. He was being cared for at Pinicon Senior Living, Anamosa where he spent 26-days. His wife, Marilyn was recovering from a successful heart surgery.
DuWayne, known by friends as "Duie," was born in Mason City and raised in the little town of Thornton, Iowa. He lived there with his parents, Pearl and Tony Schneiderman. He graduated from Meservey-Thornton high school in 1967. Two years later he completed his Associated of Applied Science degree at North Iowa Area College as a Designing Draftsman. He and his buddy Dick Knapp were both hired as draftsmen by Boeing, in Seattle, Washington. He was later promoted into the Liaison Department. As the Lord guided his life, the two friends moved into The Daniels Apartments, newly built by the Wolf Family the summer of 1967. Duie and Dick soon started double dating with Marilyn Wolf and a girlfriend, learning to navigate around Seattle, enjoying ferry rides, the Seattle Center, Pikes Place Market, the Space Needle and other West Coast sites.
Friendship grew into love. Marilyn and Duie were married August 7, 1969 in Renton, Washington. They enjoyed their honeymoon at a cabin on Canon Beach, Oregon. The days were filled with flying kites hiking in the mountains, walking the picturesque beach and building sandcastles. Next step after packing all their belongings took them to Iowa City to finish Marilyn's degree in Speech and Education. Duie commuted to his new job at Cuckler Steel Company as chief of drafting department. In 1975 their first son was born, Garrick, followed by Brock in 1978. What a joy they added to our lives with two very different and delightful personalities. Duie enjoyed being a Dad, cautioning Marilyn not to take two many substitute teaching jobs to be home with their sons.
After a successful 12 years with a great Cuckler team, Duie embarked on expanding his hobby of racing enduro karts into a full-time business: DMR van conversions. Mike Wink and Connie Osterkamp became part of our leadership team and helped us build a business known for its quality and creativity, including wheelchair lifts, raised roofs, custom paint (Duie's specialty), with FLEXSTEEL seats. As the boys got older, they began racing and eventually joined the business working with their Dad who was also their racing coach/pitman. DMR, started in 1981 and closed its doors in 1998 forced by market changes and the price of gas.
After welding for Steve Kramer for a year, Duie was hired by Dave McLaughlin Chevrolet as Service Manager Cascade, later becoming Birdnow Chevrolet. When his father, Tony Schneiderman was 97 as a widower, Duie and Marilyn welcomed Tony to move to Monticello. An addition was added to the family home to accommodate Tony's needs. He enjoyed the family pets and loving care until he was 100 years old.
DuWayne was proud of being a skilled craftsman, designing and building our home. He also enjoyed riding his bike with our dog, quiet times at home watching the Hawkeyes, and walking with Marilyn. As a father he loved watching his sons grow, driving them to compete at race tracks all over the nation where he coached them, and meeting other racing families. Morning devotions started the day – growing together in our faith, learning to trust God more each day.
A celebration of Duie's life will be held Tuesday at Springs of Life Church in Anamosa, Iowa at 2 p.m., with visitation at 1 p.m. Springs of Life Pastor Mark Orgies will be officiating. Interment will be at Wayne Zion Cemetery, followed by enjoying Duie's favorite treat: Crazy Cake(chocolate) with Ice Cream in WZ fellowship hall.
Surviving family include wife Marilyn and sons Garrick and Brock.
The family would like to thank, Above and Beyond Hospice, the staff at Pinicon Senior living and Dr. Michael Weston for all their wonderful care.
