Edgar "Ed" Ganfield died Thursday September 18, 2025, at Mercy One Hospital, Dubuque.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 Monday morning, September 29, 2025, at the Cascade Presbyterian Church where friends may call after 10:00. Interment will be in the Cascade Cemetery. Rev. Wayne Peach will officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello has taken Edgar and his family into their care.
Surviving are his sisters, Mary Rose and Ann (Warren) Schaapveld and a sister-in-law Mary Ann Ganfield, 7 nieces and nephews and 13 great-nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robert and a brother in-law Paul.
Edgar Earl Ganfield was born February 2, 1944, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, the son of Ralph and F. Birdena Hawkins, Ganfield. Edgar graduated from the Monticello Community Schools. He received his undergraduate degree from Upper Iowa University.  He completed his masters degree and a PHD in physics at the University of Wyoming. Ed returned to Cascade and began farming. He adopted early robotic technology for his dairy operation.
Ed was a voracious reader especially enjoying his Wallaces Farmer publication. He loved baseball, basketball and football, especially the Yankees and the Hawkeyes. He also did a deep study of the Bible.
