Obituary

Ed Breitbach, age 68, of Anamosa, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 6, 2021.

Edward William Breitbach was born August 5, 1952, in Cascade, IA, the son of Edward and Lauretta (Behrends) Breitbach. He attended the Aquin Schools and graduated from Aquin High School in the class of 1970. On June 25, 1977, he married Renee Finn at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade.

Ed was proud to have served his country in the United States Army National Guard for several years. He retired in 2009 from Truck Country where he was a parts sales and service specialist. Ed loved all things music and played guitar and sang in several bands for over 23 years. In retirement, he started his own karaoke service, Edertainment, and his shows were eagerly anticipated by his group of regulars. Ed was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Bears. He lived for his family, sharing over 43 years of marriage and raising three children with the love of his life, Renee. He found his greatest calling in being the best Papa to his eight grandkids.  He loved attending ball games, dance recitals, plays, concerts, and school events as often as possible.

He is survived by his wife Renee, his children Kara (Tony) Butterworth, Monticello, Amy (Kyle) Kuehler, Monticello, and Brandon Breitbach, Chicago, IL; grandchildren Madison, Hannah, Connor, Nolan, Allie, Mia, Carter, and Mason; a sister Dianne (Wally) March, Worthington, IA; his mother-in-law Darlene Finn, Cascade; a sister-in-law Lori (Vic) Klocke, Cascade; brothers-in-law Pat Finn, Cascade and Cliff Takes, Anamosa; several nieces and nephews; and many friends that he considered family. He will also be missed by his faithful dogs Molly, Freckles, and Benny.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law, Chris Takes, and brother-in-law, Steve (Buck) Finn.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Pulmonary Specialty Unit at Unity Point St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, and Linda Oberbroeckling and Jenni Otting of the Palliative Care Team at Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services at this time.  The family will plan a Celebration of Life at a later date.
