She was born Elda Evangeline Wilson on June 5, 1927, on the family farm in Buck Creek, IA to John Oliver Wilson and Bessie Evangeline (Hill) Wilson. Elda was baptized and confirmed at the Buck Creek Methodist Church. She grew up with two older brothers, Ralph and Rodney, and a younger brother, Roger. She helped on the family farm and while in 4-H, enjoyed showing pure bred Guernsey cattle at the county and state fair. She loved music and learned to play the piano by ear. Elda graduated from Buck Creek Consolidated School in 1944 at the age of 16. Afterwards, she briefly attended Iowa State University where she studied Home Economics.

Elda met the love of her life, Norman (Bud) Lincoln Landers III, at the bowling alley in Hopkinton, after he had served in the Battle of Peleliu in the western Pacific Ocean with the United States Marine Corps during WWII. The couple were married on September 7, 1947, in the Buck Creek Methodist Church by Rev. H.E. Morrow. Four precious daughters were born to this union, Kathleen (Kathy), Candace (Candy), Lee Ann, and Lisa.

Elda and Bud lived and worked on the family farm for several years before moving to Hopkinton. Elda worked for Dr. Jesse Connolly and Dr. H.A. Gearhart for 34 years while Bud worked for the U.S. Postal Service. They had a cabin on Lake Delhi and eventually built a permanent home there. Elda loved to cook, bake and entertain, and was known for being a wonderful hostess. Anyone who visited for dinner or attended a party at the Landers home always left happy and well-fed.

More than anything, Elda loved her children and lived her life to ensure their well-being and was the rock of the family. At the end of Bud's life, while he suffered with Huntington's Disease, she cared for him until it was necessary for him to live in the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Not long after his death, she sold the home on Lake Delhi and moved to Manchester Iowa to be closer to friends, and to attend Community Congregational Church of Christ, where she became a member. Elda moved to Cedar Rapids in 2018 to live with her daughter Lisa and husband Mike. In 2021, she became a resident of the Good Neighbor Home.

Elda was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bessie Wilson, her husband, Norman Landers III, her brothers Ralph Wilson and wife Maxine, Rodney Wilson and wife Jean, Roger Wilson and wife Jan, her daughter Kathleen Landers O'Neill (Robert), her daughter Candace Landers Anderson, and son-in-law, Garry Lynn Singer, husband of Candace.

Surviving are her daughters Lee Ann Landers of Miami, FL and Lisa Buckman (Mike) of Gilbert, MN. She is also survived by grandchildren Ron Hillers of Kingstown, TN, Shannon O'Neill Jones (Dalton) of Firth, ID, Erin O'Neill of San Diego, CA, Garry Singer of Amarillo, TX, Brian Singer of Manorville, NY, Sean Anderson (McKay) of Amarillo, TX and Lacee Monk (Jake) of Miami, FL, plus twelve great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Elda loved the Lord with all her heart and she has taken her place with Him in heaven.
