Evelyn Paulsen, 94, died Sunday August 3, 2025, at St. Lukes Hospital, Cedar Rapids.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 Wednesday morning, August 6, 2025, at the Scotch Grove Presbyterian Church where friends may call after 10:00.  Reverend Frank Shepherd will officiate at the services.  Private family interment will be in the Scotch Grove Cemetery.   Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello has taken Evelyn and her family into their care. In lieu of flowers and gifts memorials may be made to the Monticello Food Bank.

Surviving are 3 children, Sherry Winslow, Curtis (Susan) Paulsen, Beth Fields and her daughter-in-law, Nanci Paulsen, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, her brother, Neil (Pat) Schoon, a sister-in-law, Kathleen Decker.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul, her son David and 10 siblings.

Evelyn Jean Schoon was born April 8, 1931, at Martelle, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Johanna Eliza Ricklefs Schoon.  Evelyn attended the Martelle High School.   She married Paul E. Paulsen on October 23, 1947, at the Paulsen Family Home.  The couple farmed near Scotch Grove later moving into Scotch Grove.

Evelyn baby sat for the for the Ricklefs family for several years. She was a member of the Scotch Grove Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School for 20 years and was a member of the Presbyterian Women for 50 years.   She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa on June 21, 1931, and confirmed her faith there on May 20, 1945.
