George Lyle Marshall was born September 18, 1939 in Omaha, NE, the son of Lyle and Daisy (Alkire) Marshall. He grew up in the Omaha area and served his country in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1961. In 1971 he married Dorothy Spicka in Cedar Rapids, IA. The couple later divorced. He was employed as an industrial engineer and worked for Harnischfeger in Cedar Rapids, Amana Refrigeration in Amana and later for Balzer Inc. in Mountain Lake, MN. He retired in 2003.
Early on he enjoyed fishing and working on his rental properties. During his retirement he spent time watching television, playing poker online and attending his grandchildren's school events. He was a quiet solitary man, who loved his family and friends. He also enjoyed sitting on the deck at his daughter's house, when it was nice out. He liked seeing all the animals and getting some fresh air.
Those remembering him are his daughter, Heather Brown, Anamosa, grandchildren Caleb Brown, Levi Brown, and Claire Brown, all of Anamosa, and his siblings Janice Streeter, Betsy, KY, Bob (Marsha) Marshall, Omaha, and Judy (Charles) East, Betsy, KY.
He was preceded in death by his ex-wife Dorothy, his parents, and a son-in-law Brett Brown.
A memorial fund is being established.
