Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Edward Tiedt, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on May 13th, 2026.

Born on November 8, 1947, in Columbus, Wisconsin, Jerry was the beloved son of the late Joe and Rosella Tiedt. He spent his formative years in Columbus, attending St. Jerome's Catholic School through eighth grade before graduating from Columbus High School in 1966. He went on to further his education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, proudly earning a degree in Business and Economics in 1971.

Following college, Jerry embarked on a long and successful career in the financial sector. He began his professional journey with financial companies in Madison, Racine, and Oconomowoc, before finding his professional home at Premier Financial Credit union. There, he served with distinction as President and CEO for 35 years, overseeing offices in New Holstein, Chilton and Kiel.

Jerry was a highly respected leader in his industry and a dedicated servant to his community. He served as Treasurer on the Wisconsin Credit Union Board, as a Director at CUNA, and as Chairman of the Wisconsin Corporate Central Credit Union. Locally, he served as President of the New Holstein Chamber of Commerce, was an active member of the New Holstein Optimist Club and devoted many years of steadfast behind-the-scenes support to the annual Manitowoc Nutcracker production.

In 1974, Jerry married Trudy Dickman at Peace United Church of Christ in Monticello, Iowa. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family and shared experiences. Jerry was a man of many passions and interests which included camping, traveling, skiing, fishing, and golfing. Throughout his life, he also enjoyed attending concerts and enthusiastically cheering on Wisconsin Badgers athletics, especially the football and volleyball teams. Jerry was always quick with a hello, a smile and to lend a helping hand. Above all, Jerry cherished time spent with his family, especially when gathered around the table playing games and besting the group with his winning euchre hand.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rosella Tiedt; his first wife, Ann Bartlet; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

He is survived by his loving wife, Trudy Tiedt; his son, Jeremy (Susan) Tiedt, and grandson, Cameron; and his daughter, Megan (Eyton) Zelazo, and grandchildren, Oliver and Ellis. He is further survived by his siblings: John (Polly) Tiedt, Mary (Mike) Frodel, Jane (Bob) Garrott, and Jean (Glenn) Weisensel, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

A celebration of life will be announced at a future date, with details to follow.  Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, Iowa has taken Jerry and his family into their care.  Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery Monticello, Iowa.
