Hans Hoffman, age 60, died Friday, February 12, 2021 at Manor Care of Dubuque following a period of declining health.
His family granted his wish to be cremated. There will be a celebration of life Friday July 2, 2021 at The Monticello Gun Club starting at 3:00 PM. Memorials may be directed to the family in his honor. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello has taken Hans and his family into their care. . Surviving are, his daughter, Heather, 3 siblings, Janda (Bob) Petersen, Monticello, Hugh (Jean) Hoffman, Mt Vernon, and Jill (Kent) Martinsen, Monticello. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Donna.
Hans Hoffman was born January 19, 1961 at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello. He was the son of John (Jack) and Patricia Gerdes, Hoffman. Hans attended the Monticello Community Schools. He served in the United States Army in the 82nd Air Borne Division. Hans was part of United States invasion of Grenada that began at dawn on 25 October 1983.
Hans had worked for Dewey Gesie at the Farm Service Station, Gillis Hog Slat and Spahn and Rose Lumber. For many years he worked as a tender at Bader Masonry. Hans married Donna Mae Sanders in March of 1997 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2012.
Hans loved to be outdoors. He could find a mushroom when no one else could.
