Hazel Denniston Countryman age 83 died Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A Luncheon Celebrating Hazel's Life will be held from 1:00 until 3:00 Thursday, June 24, 2021, at the Anamosa Veteren's Hall. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello has taken Hazel and her family into their care. Thoughts, Memories, and Condolences may be left at www.goettschonline.com . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
Surviving is her husband David, her step-children, Peggy (Brad) Payne, Phyllis Camp, and Darrin Countryman all of Monticello, Patty (Mike) Griffin, Two Rivers, AK, Dennis (Kay) Countryman, Anamosa, D.J. (Markie) Camp, 13 Grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, her siblings, Rev. Richard (Ann) Denniston, Judy (Bill) Miller, John (Ann) Denniston, Jim Denniston, Michelle Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sons, Duane, Timmothy, and Raymond a daughter Lorie Lane a step-son David Countryman and a brother, William
Hazel Maxine Denniston was born January 13, 1938, at Ottumwa, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Violet Pearl Toops, Denniston. She married David Countryman on July 21, 1984, in West Des Moines. Hazel graduated from the Ottumwa High School in 1957. She operated a café with her mother in Ottumwa. She later worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids.
