Obituary

James "Jim" Kemp, 94, of Anamosa, formerly of Marion and The Villages, FL, died Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the Anamosa Care Center.

James Curtis Kemp was born October 17, 1927, in Grayslake, IL, the son of LaRoy and Elsie (Tonies) Kemp. He attended schools in Grayslake and was a member of the Grayslake High School class of 1947. He served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged from service in 1945. He married his high school sweetheart Sheana Martin on August 26, 1950, in Roundlake, IL.  Jim was a union carpenter and was a proud member of Carpenters Local 839 in Chicago, IL for 73 years.

He enjoyed golf, woodworking, watching the Green Bay Packers, traveling around the world with Sheana and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His life was filled with hard work, a wonderful family, and many good friends. Jim was much loved and will be missed forever.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years Sheana, his daughters Kris (Mark) Doll and Sandra (Douglas) Wiegand, grandchildren Thomas Warner, Eric (Rachel) Ireland, and Sara Ireland, a great granddaughter Olivia Warner and a nephew James (Debie) Friis.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Mary and Kenneth.
