Janda Petersen, 68, died Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.

A Celebration of life will held on Friday July 3, 2026 at the Monticello Gun Club from 4 until 7. Goettsch Funeral Home has taken Janda and her family into their care.

Surviving is her husband Bob, her daughter Jamie (Jon Jacobs) her son-in-law Doug Bauers, her grandchildren, Lili, Jorja, and Jhett, her siblings, Hugh (Jean) Hoffman and Jill Chapman.

She was preceded by her parents, her daughter Bobbi Jo Bauers, a brother, Hans Hoffman and her in-laws, Ralph and Dorothy Petersen.

Janda Ann Hoffman was born March 29, 1957, at the John McDonald Hospital, the daughter of John (Jack) and Patricia Gerdes Hoffman. Janda graduated with the class of 1975 from the Monticello Community Schools. She married Bob Petersen on September 17, 1977, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa.  Janda was employed by the Cedar Rapids Gazette, Kirkwood College in Monticello, the Villages in Marion, and was currently working at Advancement Services in Monticello.

Right after high school she attended Capri Cosmetology College in Cedar Rapids and operated a hair salon in her home.

Janda love to sew and quilt so much she would go to Maquoketa on Wednesdays to make quilts for veterans. She loved her Florida family vacations, going to Hale for supper, watching Lili water ski, and band and choir concerts for Jorja and Jhett.
