Jean Payton, 73, of Anamosa, died Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Anamosa Care Center.

Jean Elizabeth Keating was born April 5, 1951, in Cascade, IA, the daughter of Donald and Marion (Wolfe) Keating. On February 2, 1966, she was united in marriage to Harry Boots III. The couple made their home in the communities of Richland, Center Junction, Monticello, and Lake Delhi. In 2002 Harry passed away. Jean later married Marion Payton on April 9, 2005. The couple made their home in Anamosa.  They later separated.

She was employed as a lab technician and tester for the Dairy Board in Jones and Delaware counties. She will be remembered for her love of playing Euchre.

She is remembered by her son Harry Boots IV, grandchildren Josh (Stacey) Manternach and Zach (Lindsey) Manternach, four great grandchildren, her siblings DJ (Connie) Keating, Pat Keating, Terry Keating, Judy Doud and Carl (Deb) Keating, as well as by several nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her daughter Laura, her parents, her siblings Darrell Keating, Mary Keating, and Joyce Keating, a brother-in-law Gary Doud, and a sister-in-law Mary Ann Keating.
