Hollett
Jan 8, 1936 — Jan 13, 2024
In Remembrance of JoAnne Ruth Hollett: January 8, 1936 - January 13, 2024. JoAnne Hollett, 88 of Anamosa passed away peacefully Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Anamosa Care Center with her loving sons by her side. Surviving are her two sons Tim (Shelby) and Jim of Anamosa, sister-in-law Shirley Albaugh, son-in-law Ernest Kurth, two granddaughters Lacey (Jack) Fletcher, Laura (Seth) Gerlach, three grandsons Nathan, Sean & Skylar Hollett, one great grandson Hayes Fletcher, niece's Sharon (Jon) Stenzel & Linda (Dave) Kuhn and nephew Steve (Amy) Albaugh. Preceding her in death were her parents Ralph & Laura Albaugh, brother Jim Albaugh and daughter Kim Kurth.
JoAnne Ruth Hollett was born in Alcester, South Dakota along with her twin brother Jim Albaugh. JoAnne was the daughter of Ralph & Laura Albaugh. She graduated with the class of 1954 from Mechanicsville High School, her father was the school board president and presented her and her brother with their diplomas, she was always very proud of that.
She attained her nursing degree from Allen Hospital Nursing School in 1958 and became a certified registered nurse. JoAnne began her nursing career in the emergency room at the University of Iowa Hospital.
She worked 18 years in the emergency room, then worked in the minor surgery outpatient clinic where she assisted doctors and was also in charge of maintaining four surgical rooms. She was a nurse for 42 years. After retiring in 1995 JoAnne had logged more hours than any nurse in the history of the University of Iowa Hospital.
She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandson. She also enjoyed attending the Anamosa Veterans Day Assemblies, fishing, taking pictures of her family's activities, playing the piano and teaching her granddaughters how to play, and helping Shelby with her childcare business while also spending time caring for her grandsons Nathan, Sean, and Skylar.
The last year of her life she lived in the Anamosa Care Center. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and especially the staff for taking care of her night and day.
