Betty Joanne Sanford was born June 26, 1940, in Anamosa, the daughter of John and Velma (Scofield) Sanford. She attended school in Anamosa and graduated from Anamosa High School in the Class of 1957. In 1965 she married Robert Klinkkammer at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa. They farmed together and raised their family in rural Anamosa.
A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa, she was a woman of strong faith and was active in the church circles and the Lutheran League. Joanne enjoyed traveling the United States with her husband, reading, working crossword puzzles and to watch her flowers grow. She liked watching classic television programs, but above all else she loved spending time with and providing for her family.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Robert, her sons Scott (Michelle) and Kent (Melissa), grandchildren Jessica Klinkkammer, Katie Klinkkammer, Matthew Klinkkammer, Rachel Thompson, and Jenny Bruce, great grandchildren Jayden Murray, Parker Bruce, Blakely Bruce, Brynlee Ward, and Jackson Ward, her siblings John (Sue) Sanford, and Jeanette (Tom) Cooley, and a sister-in-law Kathren Leek.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law Charles Leek.
Joanne's family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Medical Center, Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation, and Mercy Hospice for the wonderful care they provided, as well as Kathy Lightner for all her help.
