Jon Knight, 79 of rural Viola died Monday, May 8, 2022, at his home.

A celebration of life will be held, at a later date. Goettsch Funeral Home has taken Jon and his family into their care. Jon Ward Knight was born November 15, 1943, in Anamosa, Iowa. He was the son of Ward and Norma Clare, Larson, Knight.   He received his early education in the Viola schools and graduated from the Anamosa High School with the class of 1961. Jon loved farming and worked and lived on the family farm for 75 years. Jon was multi-talented, and in addition to farming, he was a plumbing parts salesman, a plumber, and a heavy equipment operator. One of his favorite pastimes was tinkering with old Cub Cadet lawn tractors.

Jon is survived by his beloved companion, Dawn Eitel, 2 sons, Brenton (Kathie) Knight, and Aaron (Kim) Knight, 2 grandchildren, Emma and Jeffrey Knight, and siblings, Sheryl Altfillisch and Kevin (Rita) Knight.  He is also survived by Dawn's 2 sons, Josh (Aimee) Eitel, and Andy (Kim)Eitel, and grand-children, Keelie, Jaylen, Carter, Lainie, Nessa, and Wyatt.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dana Hurt Knight, and his brother-in-law, Tom Altfillisch.
