Obituary

Julie Benson age 69, of Monticello, formerly of Hopkinton and Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at her home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday May 11, 2022 at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Monticello with Pastor Jan Lamont officiating. Friends may call from 10 to 11, Wednesday May 11, 2022 at the funeral home.

She is survived by her son Tom (Sarah Wolf ),  a step-son, Mike (Jodi) Benson,  her grandchildren, Lukas, Lawson and Cloie Wilson, Lauren, Dustin, Mileea, Chris, Chaim, Brieanna, Hailey, Brett, and her special friend, Sandy, 2 siblings,  Mary (Jim) Kremer,  Carl (Karen) Olmstead.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Warren Haynes, her  husbands, Bob Wilson, Dorrance (Smokey) Chapman, and  Bob Benson,  a sister Carol (Allen) Martensen and a brother, Larry.

Julie Kay Olmstead was born June 15, 1952 at Manchester, Iowa. She was the daughter of Carlton and Maxine Dighton, Olmstead. She graduated from the Maquoketa Valley High School in 1970. She went on to attend UNI.  She was married to Bob Wilson and they had a son Thomas.  She later married Smokey Chapman and then Bob Benson. She was employed by Rockwell Collins and Lefebure. She retired from Nordstrom's in Cedar Rapids in 2017.
