Obituary

June Reiter age 91, died Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 Thursday morning, February 10, 2021 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery.  Friends may call after 9:30 at Thursday morning at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.

June is survived by 5 step-children, Gene (Susanne) Reiter, Daniel (Sharon) Reiter, David (Theresa) Reiter, Jennifer (Mike) Flach. Julie( Mark) Reynolds, nieces and nephews, Jan (Bob) Null, Julie (Tom) Dunn, Jill Cheney, John Reade, Doug (Rachelle) Rickels, Pam (Frank) Johnson, Jim (Colleen) Waldren, Vickie (Bob) McCommons, step- grandchildren Morgan, Jason, Lori, Hank Reiter, Ben and Nick Flach, Annie Krishna, five step-great-grandchildren and many great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents , her husband, and sisters, Joan Reade, Jean Schemmel, Lenore Waldron, Wilma Fitzsimmons, Ruth Lahey, Mary Lou Rickels and two infant siblings, Margaret and Robert and a niece Sue Schemmel.

June Hein was born June 12, 1930 in Richland Township, Jones County, Iowa. She was a triplet to her sisters Joan and Jean and the daughter of John and Margaret Allen Hein. June received her early education in the rural schools of Richland Township. She graduated from the Monticello Community Schools with the class of 1948. June worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell in Monticello.

June married Lambert Reiter on September 23, 1967 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church,  Sand Springs, Iowa.

The couple farmed near Hopkinton. When they retired from the farm in 1970, they moved to Monticello. She and Lambert operated a popcorn business in the area . In 1984 they opened the J & L Coral in Sand Springs.  Lambert would precede her in death on July 13, 1990.

June loved to golf, go fishing, play cards and dice games.  She was a huge Chicago Cubs Fan.
