Karl Gene Hartwig, 60, of Monticello, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Karl was born on September 29, 1964, to Kenneth and Barbara (Eilers) Hartwig. He attended school in Martelle, Roosevelt in Cedar Rapids, and Urbana. Over the years, he worked at Rent All in Cedar Rapids, served as a delivery driver for Sadler Power Train, and was employed at Family Foods in Anamosa.

Karl is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his father, Kenneth; his children, Thomas and Mary; his stepson, Matthew Moore; six grandchildren; and his siblings, Leroy, Harold, Beatrice Hochhalter, Judy Bechthold, Joe, and Leon.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara, and his brother, Larry.
