Lloyd Samuel
Andre
Feb 7, 1928 — Oct 1, 2018
Lloyd S. Andre, 90, of Anamosa, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, October 1, 2018.
Lloyd is survived by his children, Richard (Heidi) Andre, Beloit, WI, Janell Andre, Olin, IA, Suzanne (Dennis) Duggan, Cedar Falls, IA. Grandchildren Sam (Kendra) Andre, Ethan (Jasmine) Andre, Cassandra Groth (Brandon Lovell), Ben (Alexa) Groth, Caitlyn Groth, Alicia (Richard) McMurrin, Breann (Ben) Cole, and Jacob Moore. Eight great-grandsons - Oliver Andre & Leo Andre, Michael McMurrin, Ezra Groth, Abram & Walker Cole and Eligh & Braydon Lovell.
He was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen Jane (Hoag) Andre; son Samuel Leo Andre; parents Leo & Lavena Andre, brother Donald Andre and sister Phyllis Carter.
Lloyd Samuel Andre was born February 7, 1928 in Lisbon, IA, the son of Leo & Lavena (Walker) Andre. He attended Martelle schools and graduated in 1945. He and his father bought a farm in Olin in 1956 where he farmed until 2004. Lloyd met Kathleen J. Hoag on a blind date, August 8, 1958. They were married in Monticello, IA on November 30 of the same year. Kathleen passed away in 2003 and Lloyd sold the Olin farm in 2004 and moved to Anamosa, later to Marion, and back to Anamosa in 2018 where he felt he was at home.
Lloyd was a 60 year member of the Olin Masonic Lodge and he was also a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Anamosa. Lloyd loved people and a good social gathering; he always had a great story about almost any situation.
Lloyd told his family that each word for an obituary cost 25 cents. He said just put in the paper: "Andre's dead…that's .50 cents." He was never without a good sense of humor. He will be missed, but will finally be at home with Kathleen and Sam.
Family requests that instead of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Olin Masonic Lodge, the First Congregational United Church of Christ or your favorite personal charity.
