Lois Menkemeller age 98, died Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 Monday afternoon, September 12, 2022 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello where friends may call after 12 noon.  By visiting Goettschonline.com you may share your thoughts, memories and condolences with Lois's family and sign the online guest book.  Pastor Holly Knouse will officiate at the services. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello.

Surviving are 2 children, Lynn Lais and Robb Menkemeller, 3 grandchildren,  Kristina (Michael) Dvorak, Ben (Kim) Lais, Brent (Shawna) Lais, 7 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson and great-great-granddaughter on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Alice Lange, infant sister, Gladys,  her husband Robert and a son Ted.

Lois Elizabeth Lange was born September 29, 1923 at Scotch Grove, Iowa.   She was the daughter of Otto and Mable Vasey, Lange.  Lois attended the Timber School near Scotch Grove and graduated from the Monticello Community Schools.  She continued her education at Cornell College in Mount Vernon.

Lois married Robert Menkemeller at the First Presbyterian Church in Monticello.   Robert was in the military and they lived for several years in Alamogordo, New Mexico.  The couple lived most of their married life in Minneapolis.  Robert would precede her in death in 1987.  Lois continued living in Minneapolis well into her 80's before returning to Iowa.
