Obituary

Loren Eilers, 81, of Cascade, formerly of Cedar Rapids and Palo, died Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Specialty Care in Mechanicsville.

Loren Clarence Eilers was born at John McDonald Hospital in Monticello on December 14, 1942, the son of Clarence and Clara (Flack) Eilers. He attended Sacred Heart High School and graduated in the Class of 1962. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, earning an honorable discharge in 1966. HE was employed as a meat cutter at Wilson Foods (later Farmstead) in Cedar Rapids. He ended his working career as a maintenance engineer at the University of Iowa.

Loren loved fishing, deer hunting, and being outdoors. He also enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and tinkering around in his shop. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his siblings Robert, Cascade, Jean Nelson, Castleberry, FL, Don (Glenda), Scotch Grove, Steve (Sharon Skelly), Harrisonville, MO, and Mel (Becky), Monticello, as well as by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Ernie Rahm, a brother-in-law Bill Nelson, and sisters-in-law Mary Jo Eilers and Kay Eilers.
