Obituary

Marilyn Kay Judd, 75, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Jones County Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family after a long and difficult journey with Lewy body dementia. She is now at peace.

Marilyn was born on October 17, 1951, in Sidney, Nebraska, the daughter of Kenneth Eldon Gipfert and Mae Lois Gipfert. She graduated from the Sidney High School in 1968 and began working as a waitress, beginning many years of work in the food service industry.

On Valentines Day, February 14, 1971, Marilyn married Garry Lee Judd Sr. In 2000 she moved to Iowa to be closer to her family. She continued her love of working in the food service industry until her health no longer allowed her to work. She also provided in home health care.

Marilyns family was at the heart of her life. She cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alexus Burch (Josh Burger) and Brady and Kaylene Burch shared a special bond with her and were a loving presence throughout her journey. The love they shared and the memories they made together will forever remain int their hearts.

Marilyn also enjoyed listening to country music and playing a good game of Gin Rummy. The moments spent together, whether sharing a game or simply enjoying one another’s company, are the memories her family will hold close.

Marilyn is survived by her three children, Tammy (Jerry) Judd-Blake of Springville, Garry Lee Judd Jr. and Jack Lewis Judd both of Indian Springs, Nevada, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Carolyn, Jana, Gerry, Kenny, Jan, Bill and Dean.

A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held on Saturday November 7, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Sallys on Broadway in Springville. Interment will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.

In a final act of generosity, Marilyn donated her body to the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Memorials may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association for research.

Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, is caring for Marilyn and her family.
