Marilyn Ketelsen, age 85, died Friday, October 26, 2018 at Jones Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 Friday, November 2, 2018, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor Wade Reddy and Pastor Frank Shepherd,Jr. will officiate at the services. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. Friends may call from 4 until 8 Thursday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Surviving are 4 children, Denny (Sandie) of Fort Myers, FL , Kenny of Center Junction, Marcia (Vic) Kray, Kris (Jeff) Weers, both of Monticello, 4 grandchildren, Jeff and Abby Ketelsen, Mikinzie (Britt) Smith and Parker Kray, a great-grandson, Colt Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don in 2013, a great-grandson Austin Smith in 2016, her sister Donna and brother Ron.

Marilyn Ruth Yeisley was born May 29, 1933 at St. Lukes Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Ruth Fishel, Yeisley. She graduated from Springville High School in 1951.   Marilyn Yeisley and Donald Ketelsen were married September 8, 1951 at her family home in Springville. She and Don made their home and raised their family on the Ketelsen family farm near Center Junction for 61 years. She was active in band and choir in high school. She was also a cheerleader and an All-State singer. She was a 4H leader, Sunday school teacher, and part of a bowling league . Marilyn was an active member of the Center Junction community. She was a church trustee, elder and headed many other church committees. She served on the Jones County Election Board and worked at the polls during elections. She also belonged to the Altrurian Club and sang in the Joyful Noise Women's Choir. Don and Marilyn loved to go dancing, playing cards and were members of the Diamond Dreamers Camper Club.   She loved to garden and cook or bake for her family. Marilyn was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her smile could light up a room. She will be dearly missed by those who loved her.
