Marvin E. Wink age 79, died Tuesday, January 08, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospital Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 Friday morning, January 11, 2019 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Monticello with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Please join the family for lunch following the service. Pastor Dave Raemisch will officiate. Friends may register at the church after 10:00. Marvin is survived by his 3 children, Patti (Brian) Plath, West Des Moines, IA, Douglas (Lisa) Wink, Bettendorf, IA, Amy (Curtis Geldert) Wink, Minnetonka, MN., 6 grandchildren, Jake and Jackson Plath, Ashley and Mitchell Wink, Anna and Molly Geldert, his brother Ted (Marilu) Wink, 2 sisters, Sandy (Fred) VonBehren, Mariane (Bill) First, and many close nieces and nephews.  Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son, Donald Eugene, and his brother, Archie.  Marvin was also reunited with his dear wife, Adel, who passed away in April 2018.

Marvin Eugene Wink was born March 16, 1939 near Anamosa, Iowa.  He was the son of Eugene and Hermina Cordes, Wink.  He graduated from Monticello Community Schools in 1957.  Marvin spent his high school years playing football, running his milk route, pulling pranks with his buddies, and chasing his sweetheart, Adel.  Marvin married Adel First on July 26, 1959 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Monticello.  He worked at Julin Printing for 18 years, then shifted his career to the feed business; first working for Frontier, and ultimately retiring from his own business, Tri-Angle Ag Services. Marvin and his family lived on a farm in Monticello, where he lived out his dream of raising and breeding Paint and Quarter horses, including 3 World Champions.  Marvin was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and served on the council.  He also served on the Monticello City Council and the Airport Board.

Marvin will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and community.  He was a character, well known for his generous spirit and his gift of telling jokes and stories. The family would like to thank the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their support of Marvin during Adel's illness, and their care of Marvin since last March.  Marvin loved entertaining the residents and staff.  He also enjoyed formulating his own bird-seed to keep the birds outside his window well-fed. The family also extends their gratitude to St.  Luke's Hospital ICU and Hospice for their support and care during Marvin's final days.
