Nicholas Jones age 27 passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 26, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Saturday morning, April 1, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello with interment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 7 Friday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello and again on Saturday morning after 9:30 at the church.
A parish vigil service will be held 4:00 on Friday at the funeral home. Fr. Paul Baldwin will officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home has taken Nick and his family into their care.

Surviving are his parents, Diana (Keith Wernimont) Jones, Richard (Donna Hudson) Jones, his sister, Aimee (Steve) Clemmons, his grandparents, Dale and Virginia Jones and Marlene Turner a half-Brother, Dakota (Kaela) and children, Adrian and Raiden Townsend.
He was preceded in death by his grand and great-grandparents, Charles Nolte, Orville and Lorene Blankman, Joe and Virginia Behrends, Dale and Julia Jones, Louis and Vernie Nolte.
Nicholas Joseph Jones was born November 24, 1995 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of Richard and Diana Nolte Jones. Nick graduated from the Maquoketa Valley Community Schools in 2014. He worked in the hospitality industry as a clerk at the Hampton, Inn in Cedar Rapids.
He loved to go fishing with his dad, enjoyed participating in the Starlighters Theatre, and playing Dungeons and Dragons and Magic the Gathering with his friends. He was a great son, brother, and friend with a heart of gold who was willing to help anyone. He will be greatly missed by many.
The family would like to thank McKenna Kramer and Linda Oberbroeckling and the rest of the Above and Beyond Hospice Care Team for all the wonderful care they gave to Nick and his family.
