Obituary

Patsy Sparrgrove, 82, of Anamosa, died Thursday, April 16, 2026, at her home with her family at her side.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 pm Friday, April 24, 2026, at Goettsch Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 1 pm to the time of service. Carla Burge will officiate. Patsy Louise Bissell was born on January 8, 1944, in Manchester, the daughter of Leo and Ada (Sauerbry) Bissell. She attended  Greely High School and graduated from Manchester High School in the Class of 1961. On February 14, 1969, she was united in marriage to Dale Sparrgrove at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. In 1970 they moved from Central Point to the Anamosa area, where they raised cattle and farmed together for 40 years on Buffalo Road. In 2010 they sold their farm and moved closer to town.

She enjoyed gardening, carpentry, woodworking, crocheting, quilting, , making Christmas candy,  baking – especially cinnamon rolls and cookies, and doing ceramics – owning and operating her own shop, Sparrgrove Ceramics, on Main Street.

Patsy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dale, her son Brian (Michelle), grandchildren Marisa, Brandon, and Mason, her siblings Donna Bell, and Bill (Shirley) Bissell, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Lois, Doris, Bonnie, Dale, Leo "Pud", and Vance.
