Phillip Petersen, 84, of Anamosa, formerly of Bloomington, MN, died Saturday, December 3, 2022 at his home.

Phillip Stanley Petersen was born on July 26, 1938 in Bloomington, MN, the son of Jake and Birdie (Schoumaker) Petersen. He attended Bloomington schools and graduated from Bloomington High School in the Class of 1956. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was granted Honorable Discharge on in 1960. He married Selma "Sally" Kittleson on September 19, 1964 in Bloomington. The couple made their home and raised their family in Farmington, MN and moved to Anamosa when Phillip retired in 2005.

He owned and operated his own carpet business in Farmington, and was a member of the Farmington VFW. In his spare time Phillip enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling, hunting and playing board games and cards. He was mild mannered and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of over 58 years Sally, his children Patricia (David) Nelson, Farmington, MN, Craig (Sabrina), Ivins, UT, Christine (Mike) Marcus, Anamosa and Shannon (Jason) Anderson, Anamosa, twelve grandchildren, one great grandson, brothers Kenny (Marlys) and Dennis (Mary Jo), a sister Janice Matthews and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law Marian and Joe Furey, and a brother-in-law Jerry Matthews.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, and Above and Beyond Hospice for the wonderful care Phillip received.
