Richard "Dick" Patnode, 91, died Friday, January 10, 2025, at St. Lukes Hospice, Cedar Rapids.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 Monday morning, January 20, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Anamosa.  Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.   Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Navy and the Anamosa Veterans.  The family will greet friends after the service at Wapsi Country Club where they will gather for a toast to Dick.  Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa has taken Dick and his family into their care.

Surviving is his step-son Loren (Amy) Lacy, 2 granddaughters, Mallory (Joel) Downing, Madison (Tim) Wallander 6 great-grandchildren, Lucy and Henrick Wallander, Remi, Karter, Brooks and Mila Downing.  He was preceded by his parents, his wife Joyce and a sister Elaine.

Richard Irvin Patnode was born January 31, 1933, at Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Edward and Regina Lawrence, Patnode.  Dick graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools with the class of 1951.  He enlisted in the United States Navy right after high school.  He returned to Anamosa in 1955 after completing his military duty.  He sold seed corn for a brief time before starting his life's work as a stone and brick mason.

He worked for Clayton Healy and later for C. J. Patnode until he retired.  Dick married Joyce Ann Morrissey on May 15, 1981, at St. Patrick Catholic Church.  Joyce preceded him in death on December 12, 2019.  Dick loved to garden, play golf at Wapsi, go fishing and play cards, he will be missed by all those he loved.
