Richard John Rickels, 69, died Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at St. Lukes Hospital Cedar Rapids, Iowa of complications of cancer.
Private Family graveside services will be held at Prairie Hill Cemetery, rural Monticello.  Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello has taken Richard and his family into their care.
Surviving is his brother Robert (Beverly) Rickels, a niece Jessie (Adam) Intlekofer and his great-nephews Aiden and Ashton.  Rick also left behind his white German Shepherd, Lucky and his cat, named Cat.  He also has a friend Lori Mysak.  Rick was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard John Rickels was born August 7th, 1955 at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa.  The son of Robert H. and Vivian Kula Rickels.  Richard was a graduate of the Monticello Community Schools.  He had been employed at Nicks DX, Stephen Motors and Cascade Die Mold.   Rick also farmed for many years on the family farm.
